Providing Contemporary Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Funk Fusion, R & B, with a few world classics thrown in from time to time, without commercials, playing 24/7, and emergency broadcasts as it happens. On Saturdays from 10 to Noon MST it's the "Computer Talk with Dave Mason" show with Dr. Dave and his brother and producer Evil Steve. Also listen to the 7-day Eureka Weather Forecast, at 3, 7, and 11, around the clock, and the time spoken on the top & bottom of the hour...
LocalFM.net 96.9FM studio and transmitter are located at 1911 Hilfiker Lane with a radiated power of 30 milliWatts at 200 feet as allowed by the FCC. But in an emergency like an earthquake and tsunami, the power limitations are lifted and the power goes up to 7 Watts from this station at 1 mile out. This station was built with emergency in mind. The most important component of this station is the Midland WR300 Weather Radio which picks up S.A.M.E Emergency Broadcasts from the National Weather Service NOAA that triggers an alarm and plays the WR300 radio signals over the air which is mixed in directly to the transmission of LocalFM.net 96.9FM. Most people do not have a radio like the WR300 so I provide the signal for you to pick up on your own FM radio.
This station was custom built from the ground up using 8 free software packages and a donated PC running XP Pro, but all the components to make this work run about $400 and counting. I still need a good battery-backup system to keep the station alive longer during a power outage as in an earthquake and tsunami. I'm sharing the battery-backup of another PC at the moment and need a separate one for the stations equipment.
If you are interested in starting your own radio station I can show you how or build one for you...
